Electric Cars

Dear Friend,

Thank you for visiting my web site, I trust I can provide you with some good information to help you make an informed decision about converting car to electric.

Being a bit handy at mechanical things I often wondered if I could turn my hand to implementing various means to save on energy, electric cars are just one way though, they do need the batteries charging to make them work. This alone brings in to question the wisdom in converting a car to electric then, I came across a family who had  really thought this through.

What they had done was this, firstly they  installed wind and solar energy generation at thiner home, my ears pricked up at this simple story..secondly they converted a car to electric. This had to be the best of both worlds, generate your own power, transfer that free energy to charge an electric car.

Doing exactly that made so much sense what a good way to do our bit to save energy and generate almost free renewable energy. My next step was to go and find the right information and the right  instructions to DIY both projects. This the link to the first stage of my projects, this taught me to install solar and wind power so I could generate charging power for my second project electric car conversion. Oh and by the way, while I was looking for the home energy system I discovered a magnet perpetual motion motor generation system which generates totally free power you can watch a video here and see exactly how it works.  Now you can imagine how excited I got at the prospect of totally free electricity.

So, let's recap what I'm trying to do, first generate totally free power either by solar or wind or even the Magnawork motor  which runs alone with no external power source. My mind started to race ahead..at all the possibilities and the large amount of money I could save, I knew I would have to invest in components but, a few hundred bucks compared to the return on investment was minimal.

Now for the main project my electric car conversion. I decided to convert a small car first, at the least it would be a low cost earth friendly  solution to rising gas prices. I read a lot on the topic first then I did two things, one was to buy a fairly comprehensive how to do it course you can check that out here, two, I bought  a professional electric car conversion kit. The reason for this was simple, "why reinvent the wheel"  plus, I didn't want the project to drag on for years, this way it made sure I went ahead with every stage  in a structured way. I even set myself time scales to adhere to. How many times have you like me started a project and it never got completed? plenty right !

I knew the first step was to remove the entire gas engine and clean out the engine bay with a  de greaser and high pressure jet after all, we were saying  goodbye to internal combustion and hello to clean electric free power. I always work better when I know at the end I'm going to end up with exactly what I need and exactly what will save me a truck load of cash year in year out, this gave me the incentive to continue even, when the going got tough  and I though I couldn't do it.

Deciding on which vehicle to convert to electric is the biggest  problem, eventually it was decided to convert an old VW Beatle, this motor is light enough and has space for batteries. If you need help with this then there is a great little web site here
